Raleigh School Closing

A controversial private school in Raleigh is closing its doors. The Upper Room Christian Academy High School opened in 2001.

Dave DeWitt: Despite being open for more than a decade, just three students earned degrees from Upper Room Christian Academy High School. One of them was NC State basketball player Rodney Purvis. He graduated last year and is now a freshman for the Wolfpack. Earlier this year, the NCAA placed Purvis on academic probation as it investigated Upper Room Christian Academy's academic rigor. Purvis was later declared eligible to play this season. A school official says the NCAA investigation is not the reason the school is closing. Upper Room also announced it will shutter its middle school. The two closings affect about 38 students. Upper Room Christian Academy will continue to operate a preschool and elementary school.
