A Note To Our Audience

To our WUNC community:

Acts of police violence against Black people and subsequent cries for justice and an end to brutality are consuming our personal lives, our journalism, and our work.

That work includes facilitating real and lasting dialogue, and amplifying voices from communities of color protesting systemic racism, law enforcement abuses, and racial injustices.
Those conversations start with acknowledging truth. Racism is wrong. So is not paying attention to the many ways it affects the lives and livelihoods of Black people.

As we witness and report on this latest unrest and beyond, WUNC is committed to bringing you a deeper understanding of these issues facing our state.

We will also listen to you, respond with urgency and self-reflect on ways our own institution can do better.

WUNC takes seriously the responsibility to tell every story with empathy and accuracy.  When we don’t rise to that challenge, we want to know about it.

If we all work toward understanding, finding solutions and a more equitable society, we will emerge stronger.
