Duke Student DNC Delegate

The Democratic National Convention in Charlotte is especially exciting for a growing group of youth delegates.  Elena Botella says she’s pumped up!  The Duke University senior helped campaign for President Obama as a senior in high school but was too young to vote for him. Botella says there are a lot of students like her still involved.

Botella continues, "Oh, I talk to chapter leaders all the time, from all over the state.  We have chapters in almost every campus in North Carolina.  They have their challenges, making sure their people get to the polls, they deal with inclimate weather.  But one thing they are not dealing with is the lack of student enthusiasm."

Botella is one of 37 young North Carolina Democrats serving as delegates to the national convention.
