Evelyn Nesbit posed for Charles Dana Gibson's drawing "The Eternal Question".
Julienne Alexander

Before anyone knew what an "It Girl" was, there was Evelyn Nesbit.

The actress and model was one of the most famous faces of early 20th century America.

Nesbit was also an iconic Gibson Girl.

She would become the center of attention for two prominent New York City businessmen and their obsessions with her would alter the course of her life.

This story has been corrected to reflect the spelling of a name. Her name is Evelyn Nesbit, not Evelyn Nesbitt.
