AAA All Stars Head To Durham Wednesday

The annual AAA All Star game is being held for the first time at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Wednesday.

The Bulls have four players on the International League squad, and the team is being helmed by Durham manager Charlie Montoyo.  Festivities began with concerts and other fan events over the weekend.

Scott Carter works for the Bulls.  He said excitement is building for tonight's popular Home Run Derby.

“We've got six premier AAA sluggers that are going to be in this thing including a guy named Mike Hessman, who's the International League's career home run leader,” Carter said. “He just broke the all-time career mark back in June.”

Carter said the batters will be taking aim at the iconic snorting bull that adorns the leftfield wall.  Gates at the ballpark open tonight at 5:30pm.

The All-Star game is scheduled for Wednesday night at 7.
