Lockdown Lifted: UNC-Chapel Hill Police Investigate Unconfirmed Reports Of Armed Person

A lockdown has been lifted at UNC-Chapel Hill and at Chapel Hill/Carrboro schools after unconfirmed reports of an armed person at the Carolina ROTC building.  Someone spotted a man carrying a long case that could contain a rifle or shotgun.

UNC Public Affairs' office says Campus Police never found a gunman, and no one had been hurt. They're still investigating the incident.

9:25 a.m.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has lifted  an emergency warning after police reported an armed and dangerous person on campus Wednesday morning. The armed person was reported near the ROTC building on campus.
