Duke CFO Survey Forsees Hiring

The new quarterly survey by Duke University and CFO Magazine shows most CFOs are ready to hire.

Leoneda Inge:  The new global business outlook survey shows most chief financial officers plan to expand their firm’s workforce by an average of two-point-five percent.  Campbell Harvey is a Finance Professor at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. He says that’s huge.

Campbell Harvey:  So this is not a blip that is anomalous. We’ve actually seen this number track up. So it started at one-point-five, then two-point-one and now its two-point-five percent.

Harvey says the Duke, CFO Magazine survey hasn’t revealed an employee hiring number that high since 2004.  Still, the US CFO Optimism Index has dropped from 59 to 56, on a 100 point scale. Harvey says it’s partly because of the unsteadiness in Europe.
