The Capital City Bikefest kicks off in Raleigh this weekend.
The event will feature a classic motorcycle exhibit, a high wire stunt act and a biker fashion show. There also will be a ride to raise money for the U.S.O. and the U.S. Veterans Corps.
Kris Weiss is a spokesman for Ray Price Harley Davidson, which organizes the festival. He says the festival began when Raleigh launched efforts to revitalize downtown a decade ago.
Now, some downtown residents are complaining that the motorcycles make for too noisy a gathering.
But Weiss said the event is now Raleigh tradition.
“You know, people who live down there have to realize it's (an) active bustling city with events happening every weekend in downtown Raleigh, and we just happen to be one of them,” Weiss said.
He added that the bikers try to be good neighbors, and don't make nearly as much noise as they could.
More than 100,000 people are expected to attend this year's Bikefest.
