NCAA Baseball Tournament Kicks Off This Weekend

Jeffrey A. Camarati, UNC

The NCAA baseball tournament gets underway this weekend with games in Raleigh and Chapel Hill.  NC State hosts a regional with a game against Binghamton tomorrow night at seven.  UNC Chapel Hill is the number one overall seed and will also host a regional tomorrow night.  The Tar Heels face Canisius at 6:00.  Coach Mike Fox says fans have a big role to play in his team's success."You know, this is the best time of the year,"Fox says. "This is NCAA tournament time, we need our crowd here, we need a full Boshamer Stadium, you know, on Friday night to get it started.  It'll be a tough challenge for us because everybody's wanting to win and win badly this time of year so we can't anticipate anything. We gotta be ready to play and be ready to play well."

The Tar Heels tied with LSU for the most wins in the country this year.  Two other North Carolina teams play in the tournament this weekend - Elon and UNC Wilmington face each other tomorrow evening in the Charlottesville regional.
