McCrory Sworn In As 74th NC Governor

Pat McCrory holds his first cabinet meeting today after becoming the 74th governor of North Carolina. McCrory took the oath of office over the weekend from Chief Justice of the state Supreme Court Sarah Parker. McCrory received a state seal from Bev Perdue that is handed to each governor when he or she takes office.

Pat McCrory: "I accept this great seal of the state of North Carolina and the powers and duties that it represents. I hereby promise to fulfill the duties of the governor of North Carolina. May we all working together be a beacon of hope and progress for our nation and, of course, for our great state."

McCrory also administered the oath of office to each of his cabinet members. The governor wanted his official duties to start before state lawmakers reconvene this week. McCrory's public inauguration is scheduled for next weekend.
