[PHOTOS] Zoos, State Parks - What's Open & Closed

The North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro will be closed Saturday and Sunday. Zoo staff must clear more than 5 miles of walkways inside the park. The facility will likely reopen Monday.

In addition, the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources reports:

  • On the coast, all three state aquariums and Jennette's Pier in Nags Head opened on their regular schedules Thursday. The aquariums, which are at Fort Fisher, Pine Knoll Shores and Roanoke Island, are open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.
  • The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh reopened at noon Friday. The museum will resume its regular schedule starting Saturday. The museum is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
  • Some North Carolina state parks are closed , or are operating with limited access, due to the icy conditions on roads and in the parks. Use the 'Find a park' menu on the website to find out more.
