The North Carolina State Fair attracted more than million people for the second straight year. The fair closed out its 10-day run yesterday with more than 100,000 people. But overall attendance fell about 7 percent short of last year's record numbers. State agriculture spokesman Paul Jones says vendors reported mixed reviews about this year's revenue.
Paul Jones: It depends on which vendors you talk to. We heard from several vendors and a lot of the crafters in the Village of Yesteryear had their best year ever and then some of the concessions here said they had really great years. And then others, at the same time, said that they haven't had the best year.
Some concession stand owners said they saw a 35 percent drop in profit from last year. They say the sluggish economy and higher food prices drove away some customers.
