DPAC Performances Continue To Pack The House

The Durham Performing Arts Center continues to be one of the top theaters and concert halls in the country.

New numbers from the trade magazine, Pollstar, ranks DPAC fourth in the US based on attendance.

Pollstar - 2013 - Top 5-ranked US Theatres:

1-Radio City Music Hall - New York, NY

2-The Colosseum At Caesars Palace - Las Vegas, NV

3-Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis, MN

4-DPAC - Durham, NC

5-Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE - Los Angeles, CA

Last year DPAC featured 174 performances and 57 shows were sellouts. More than 352,000 guests attended Broadway, comedy shows and concerts. DPAC has been listed in Pollstar's top five for the past four years.

The most attended Broadway Show at DPAC last year was – “How the Grinch Stole Christmas! – The Musical.”

DPAC spokesperson Rachel Gragg said in a statement, "DPAC continues to strive towards the goal of offering something for everyone." Numbers show Alabama was the top concert at DPAC and Jerry Seinfeld was the top comedy Act.

Leoneda Inge is the co-host of WUNC's "Due South." Leoneda has been a radio journalist for more than 30 years, spending most of her career at WUNC as the Race and Southern Culture reporter. Leoneda’s work includes stories of race, slavery, memory and monuments.
