State Elections Officials Investigating Possible Double Voting

State elections officials say they're investigating 765 cases of voters who could have gone to the polls in two states, including North Carolina. The numbers come from a national crosscheck of voters that compares records in 28 states. State lawmakers mandated participation in the program last year. Kim Strach is the executive director of the state Board of Elections.

"There are a couple of things we have to look at, we have to look at and see could it be voter fraud, sure it could be voter fraud. Could it be error on the part of the precinct official choosing the wrong person, it could be. The problem and one of the greatest concerns we have is that these people shouldn't be on the roll in the first place," says Strach.

Strach says her staff is looking individually at each case to try to find out why some of those records seem to match registered voters in other states.
