The Republican-controlled General Assembly wrapped up its short session Friday, passing an adjusted budget in time for the start of the fiscal year, above the objections of Democrats and Governor Roy Cooper’s veto.

The session was marked by much more than budget negotiations, though. Constitutional amendments, veto overrides and the rejection of gubernatorial nominees.

Joining WUNC’S Rusty Jacobs for a look back at a bruising week in state politics are Becki Gray, senior vice president at the conservative John Locke Foundation, and Billy Ball, managing editor at the progressive N.C. Policy Watch.

Rusty Jacobs is WUNC's Voting and Election Integrity Reporter.
