There is a tornado watch in effect for central and eastern North Carolina, as well as thunder storm warnings and a wind advisory.  Mike Strickler is a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

“This morning we've got a currently-warned severe thunderstorm near Asheboro,” Strickler said. “It's already produced dime-sized hail out toward Albemarle and that areas of thunderstorms will move throughout the Triangle after about 8 or 9 o'clock this morning.”

Wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour are possible statewide. Forecaster Richard Kreitner of the Wilmington office said the coast can expect sunny skies by this afternoon.
