Greensboro Residents To Decide How To Spend $500,000

Greensboro

Residents in each of the city's five city council districts will choose which project gets funded. They can choose from among several projects, with the winner in each district getting $100,000.

Some of the choices include local pool upgrades or adding playground equipment. One program that will be on all the ballots is a proposed downtown weekend trolley.

Greensboro previously held a participatory budgeting vote in 2017. Durham held one last year.

Participatory budgeting was developed in Brazil in 1989 according to the Participatory Budgeting Project. Now more than 1,500 participatory budgets exist around the world.

Residents 14 years of age and older can vote online or in person until October 31.
