Infosys Picks Raleigh For New Tech Hub

Infosys

An India-based consulting firm plans to establish one of four American tech hubs in the Brier Creek area of Raleigh. Infosys announced it plans to create 2,000 new jobs over the next five years.

The deal follows a $1 million incentives package from the City of Raleigh, and a $25 million job development grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

Governor Roy Cooper welcomed Infosys at a press conference Tuesday.

“This is a big deal for our state,” Cooper said. “This location will be a central location that will draw employees from many surrounding counties, towns and areas.”

Infosys President Ravi Kumar said the Triangle's universities and community colleges made it an attractive place to settle.

“Tech workforce has to be organically built, organically built from multiple disciplines, multiple domains,” Kumar said at a press conference. “And as an employer, we've always believed in hiring talent from schools, hiring talent from schools and colleges from across the world.”
