The North Carolina Department of Revenue says it's arrested two businessmen on felony embezzlement charges.

A news release from the department says 47-year-old Charles Burgess and 51-year-old Peter Mark-Anthony Ellison are each charged with embezzlement of state property and embezzlement of Wake County property.

Specifically, the men are accused of helping their restaurant business convert more than $148,000 in state and county taxes between April 2014 through April 2017 for their own use. The charges against Burgess and Ellison were the result of an investigation by special agents with the department's criminal investigations section.

The men were placed under a $50,000 secured bond. It's not known if they have attorneys.
