Presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off tonight for the second of three presidential debates. NPR's politics team, with help from reporters and editors who cover national security, immigration, business, foreign policy and more, are annotating the debate live.

The event is being held at Washington University in St. Louis. The debate is taking the form of a town hall meeting, and half the questions will be posed directly by citizens and the other half by co-moderators ABC’s Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz and CNN Anchor Anderson Cooper.

Portions of the debate with added analysis are highlighted below, followed by context and fact check from NPR reporters and editors.
