Greensboro Voters Choose Mayor, Council Today

Voters are casting ballots in local elections across the state today. Greensboro voters will pick a mayor and City Council.

Both interest and voter turnout are up in Guilford County. Early voting in the Greensboro Mayoral and City Council races was up nearly 46 percent when compared to the municipal elections of 2009. In the mayor's race voters will decide between conservative incumbent Bill Knight and self-described 'progressive' challenger Robbie Perkins. Knight is seeking his second-term as mayor, while Perkins has served on the City Council in 16 of the past 18 years. The council is comprised of eight seats - five district and three at-large positions. All of those seats are in play during tomorrow's election and a shift from the current republican leaning council is possible.
