A former advisor to President Donald Trump will speak at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill tonight.
Sebastian Gorka left the White House in August. In late October, he said the country's big issue is “black African gun crime against black Africans.” Previously, he's said violence is a fundamental part of Islam.
The event is sponsored by UNC Christians United For Israel and the UNC College Republicans.
Will Rierson is chairman of UNC College Republicans and says his organization brings in a wide variety of opinions on conservatism and the Republican party as an "educational supplement."
“As an organization who sees itself as kind of a minority opinion on campus, we feel like often times our views are not represented by professors in their curricula,” Rierson said.
Last week, Gorka was hired by Fox News as the network’s national security strategist.
The event is open to college students and faculty and will feature discussion of U.S.-Israel relations and Middle Eastern Affairs. The event comes as UNC system officials consider a free speech policy critics say could be used to punish student protesters.
