Hong Kong's health minster urges folks to stare at those smoking where they shouldn't

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep with advice on how to stop people from smoking. Some people try nicotine patches. Others try chewing gum. But what about people staring at you? That is what Hong Kong's health minister prescribes when someone smokes where they should not. Law enforcement can't always stop a smoker in the wrong place, but public shaming might help. Officials hope this move will make it a real drag to slip out for a drag. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
