Erland and The Carnival is the British trio of folk singer Gawain Erland Cooper and session veterans David Nock (The Fireman) and Simon Tong (The Verve). Taking its name from the Jackson C. Frank song "My Name is Carnival," the trio specializes in taking traditional Scottish and English folk songs and twisting them into contemporary hits. On their self-titled debut for British label Full Time Hobby, the men blended together bits of poetry, folk tales and modern production for a winning combination.
And while their debut album is still making waves a year after its release, they have made their way back to Damon Albarn's Studio 13 to record their second album.
