Court Yard Hounds On World Cafe

With the acclaimed country music trio the Dixie Chicks on hiatus, two of the group's members -- Emily Robison and Martie Maguire -- decided they wanted to return to the studio to record new material. Since Natalie Maines, the group's lead vocalist, apparently was not ready to return to recording, Robison and Maguire formed their own group -- Court Yard Hounds.

Thus, with a musical style similar to the Dixie Chicks, Court Yard Hounds have recently released a self-titled debut. Filled with emotional songwriting, strong Americana aesthetics and pop undertones, Court Yard Hounds is a great album from two proven musicians. Add some impassioned fiddle, banjo and steel guitar, and you've got a legit country music force. Maybe sometimes two really is a company.
