Ike Reilly thought he had retired from his eclectic music career in Chicago in the early 1990s. In 2001, however, some of his demo work fell into the hands of Michael Simpson (a.k.a. E.Z. Mike) of The Dust Brothers, the producers behind Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique, Beck's Odelay and Hanson's "MMMBop." Soon thereafter, he released his debut album, Salesmen and Racists. He's got a rough-hewn rock 'n' roll sound, and since 2003, Reilly and his band have gone by the name The Ike Reilly Assassination.
Fresh off the release of Hard Luck Stories, Reilly and his band perform a free show at noon ET from the World Cafe Live stage. He's joined on stage by Tommy O'Donnell (bass), Ed Tinley (guitar and keys), Dave Cottini (drums) and Phil Karnats (guitar). The group is currently touring in support of Hard Luck Stories, which came out in February.
