This week, Mountain Stage is looking back at a few of the relatives who've appeared on the program in the past 26 years.
John Hartford was an influential force in the world of contemporary roots music until his death in 2001. His music lives on through the countless musicians he inspired -- including his son, Jamie Hartford, who was already showing great promise as a singer, instrumentalist and songwriter when he appeared alongside his father in 1989. The two would go on to release the album Hartford & Hartford together in 1991.
In 2005, Jamie Hartford returned to Mountain Stage with Part of Your History, an album of his father's songs. "Don't Put Him Down for It Now," as well as John Hartford's most recorded song ("Gentle on My Mind"), are featured here.
