When a band takes its name from a Charles Baudelaire novella, expectations for decidedly literate lyrics are bound to arise. London's Fanfarlo certainly meet those expectations, but they also bring to the table a rich, ornate sound built by the band's five multi-instrumentalist members. Produced by Peter Katis — who worked with The National on 2007's Boxer — Reservoir was recorded in Katis' home studio in Bridgeport, Conn., and was enough of a success to allow the band members to quit their day jobs and begin extensive touring. Fanfarlo plays songs from their rustic, tightly orchestrated debut in this concert from KEXP at the Gibson Guitar Showroom.
