The music of Rodrigo y Gabriela combines delicate flamenco and metal influenced lead guitar with stunningly percussive rhythmic strumming. The duo is best known for its covers of Metallica's "Orion" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," but most of its music is original, and all of it instrumental.
Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero were both born in Mexico and are now based out of Dublin, Ireland. They first moved to Ireland speaking only limited English, and relied upon music as their sole means of support. They persevered, busking in places like Copenhagen and Barcelona, eventually finding success in Europe. Three years since the release of their international hit debut album, the duo's new effort, 11:11, remains focused on guitar duets, but adds percussion, piano and stringed instruments from around the world.
