Born in Norway and based in Brooklyn, singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche grew up idolizing The Beach Boys and a-ha, and ultimately found a way to infuse his sound with the sweet and adventurous pop of each. As he's developed as a songwriter — releasing five full-length albums, plus much of the soundtrack to the 2007 film Dan in Real Life — Lerche has settled into a sound that's grand, warmly romantic and decidedly timeless. Since the release of his 2001 debut, the orchestral pop disc Faces Down, Lerche has built a rabid following that's fanned out from his homeland; he won a Norwegian Grammy for Faces Down, and has been picking up fans around the world ever since. Mixing studio finesse with off-the-cuff playfulness, his new album Heartbeat Radio just came out.
