Though he once led the emo-rock band Miracle of 86, Kevin Devine has made far more of a name for himself as a solo artist, with albums that bring to mind the gentle grace of Elliott Smith. Click the link above to hear Devine perform live in concert from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.
The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter first broke through as a solo artist with the release of 2002's Circle Gets the Square, and he's released four albums since. The latest, Brother's Blood, infuses Devine's gentle folk side with a healthy dose of dissonance. The disc is melancholy, to be sure, but Devine explores his rock side along the way.
