The Derek Trucks Band And Guy Sebastian With Steve Cropper In Concert

The Derek Trucks Band is an eclectic assortment of self-proclaimed jammers, each highly successful in his own right. Headed by Trucks on guitar, the sextet has released seven albums since 1997, touring with other musicians such as Trucks' wife, Susan Tedeschi. Click the link above to hear The Derek Trucks Band perform live in concert from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, with openers Guy Sebastian and Steve Cropper.

A Grammy-nominated guitar prodigy, Trucks first performed onstage at age 10. At 15, he formed The Derek Trucks Band, and has been perfecting its diverse and improvisational sound ever since. Its influences include blues, soul, jazz, rock, Indian music, Latin music and countless other international sounds, and its latest album, Already Free, is no exception.

For this show, Trucks and company will share a bill with Australian Idol alumnus Guy Sebastian and the legendary Stax Records guitarist Steve Cropper. The pair's recent collaboration on Sebastian's The Memphis Album inspired them to take their soulful R&B on the road. Since winning the country's first Idol title in 2003, Sebastian has become a crossover star in Australia, and is set to make his U.S. debut with The Memphis Album.

He'll have a big assist from Cropper, who — like this show's headliner — recently made Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." Legendary for his collaborations with Booker T & The MGs and The Blues Brothers, as well as his work as a songwriter, engineer and producer, Cropper gives Sebastian's music a hearty dose of stinging soul.
