Released in August 2007, Michael McDermott's Noise from Words was a record many years in the making.
McDermott burst onto the scene in 1991 when, at the age of 20, he made 620 W. Surf, his major-label debut. The album spawned a hit single, "A Wall I Must Climb," but its success initiated a spiral into addiction and torment that would eventually find the Chicago-based singer-songwriter incarcerated at the same Cook County jail where his father had once served. "My Father's Son," included here in this live performance from Charleston, W.Va., tells that story with heartbreaking intimacy.
Noise from Words is an autobiographical look at McDermott's ascent from his personal and psychological battles and the search for redemption.
