Sylvie Lewis On Mountain Stage

Originally from London, Sylvie Lewis writes wistful, reflective songs that sound as if they've emerged from the cabarets of France.

Thought-provoking lyrics and a soft, heartbreaking voice give Lewis' songs a distinctive sound: a bit theatrical, but with understated cleverness. The influence of her heroes — Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and the Gershwins — is evident in her compositions.

Lewis took to Los Angeles after graduating from the Berklee College of Music, but, not to remain too long, she moved to Spain in 2005. There, she found inspiration that would become Translations, her third album. She now lives in Rome, Italy.

Lewis performs along with the Mountain Stage band. The set culminates with a piano instrumental by Mountain Stage pianist Bob Thompson.
