In 2002, Tift Merritt's debut album, Bramble Rose, took fans of American roots music by surprise. The country singer-songwriter's voice is an incredible instrument in itself, but she also possesses the guitar skills and songwriting chops of a seasoned professional.
In support of her third release, Another Country, Merritt speaks with host David Dye about the album's primary inspiration: France. When she returned to the U.S. after an extended period there, she immediately set to writing, opting for a stripped-down approach as she hit the studio. The change is a welcome one, as it highlights Merritt's subtle, sensitive voice and thoughtful lyrics more than ever.
