Mike Wexler is a singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, NY with a beautifully textured voice. His debut full-length CD is called Sun Wheel. It's a carefully crafted collection of songs mixing folk with psychedelia, a sound Wexler says is inspired in part by the music of Robert Wyatt and Pink Floyd.
Though Sun Wheel features only eight songs, a number of the tracks are epic in scale. Wexler's songs play out like little journeys through a spare but intriguing world of sound with simple piano lines, inspired melodies and sometimes haunting atmospherics.
Sun Wheel is out on the Amish/Chouette label. Wexler is joined on the album by Jordi Wheeler, Charles Burst, Brian Tamborello and Tianna Kennedy.
