Eilen Jewell is a 27-year-old Boston-based musician known for her classic country and folk style, her emotional singing and her dramatic uses of silence. Often compared to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch, Jewell possesses a restrained but expressive vocal style. Her 2005 debut album, Boundary Country, became a local sensation in Boston.
Her second album and first national release, Letters From Sinners & Strangers, is saturated with sorrow, as exemplified by songs such as "Heartache Boulevard."
