Ian Hunter: Ageless and Energized

Listen

At 68, Ian Hunter continues to create hard-driving, memorable music. But he remains most famous for his guitar heroics and vocals in the '70s glam favorite Mott the Hoople, which was instrumental in laying the foundation for punk and metal.

Hunter's music has been covered by the likes of The Clash, Kiss and Motley Crue, and he's even produced the work of Generation X (the punk band which spawned Billy Idol). As a solo artist, he's been releasing albums to varying degrees of success since 1975, when his self-titled debut spawned the hit "Once Bitten, Twice Shy." Though his recording schedule slowed down considerably in the '80s and '90s, his new solo album (Shrunken Heads) finds him sounding ageless and energized.

This segment originally aired on July 25, 2007.
