President Bush picked investment banker William Donaldson of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette to head the Securities and Exchange Commission, replacing Harvey Pitt. President Bush said Donaldson is a strong leader who would "vigorously enforce our nation's laws against corporate corruption." NPR's Jack Speer has the story.

Senate to Debate Higher Fuel Standards

A new energy bill sets up a Senate debate on a measure to increase fuel economy standards. It would require that cars, trucks and SUVs achieve an average of 35 miles per gallon by 2020. That's 10 miles per gallon over current levels.

Tuesday is the deadline to file federal income tax forms. Of 135 million forms expected this year, at least half will be filed electronically. And 20 percent will come in during this last week.
