It's season's greetings from "The State of Things!" This holiday season, the staff wondered what kinds of songs make up the holiday soundtracks of others...so, we asked. After polling ourselves at the office and WUNC listeners from our station's Public Insight Network, we had so much great music and so many interesting personal stories to go along with the song choices that we needed an extra hour to fit it all in. So, sit back and tune in to the first-ever two-hour music event from "The State of Things." We hope you'll share some of the favorites selected today and hear some new music to add to your holiday music libraries. It's a spectacular collection of songs for the season of giving and it's our gift to you. Happy Holidays.
The songs heard today are:
"I Believe in Santa Claus" - Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers
"Merry Christmas From the Family" - Robert Earl Keen
"River" - Joni Mitchell
"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" - Jack Johnson
"Away in a Manger" - Lee Spears & Donna Michael
"Christmas Must Be Tonight" - The Boomers
"Carol of the Bells" - John Williams
"Please Daddy Don't Get Drunk This Christmas" - John Denver
"Mele Kalikimaka" - Bing Crosby & the Andrews Sisters
"Christmas in the Ashram" -Chris Rosser
"Christmas in Hollis" - Run DMC
"Blue Christmas"/"Silent Night"/"Little Drum Machine Girl" - Gerty
