North Carolina has the 13th highest unemployment rate in the country, and projections for the coming year don’t look good. Being laid off is difficult on many levels: there’s the practical aspect of financial survival, and there are feelings of shame, anger and distress. Host Frank Stasio speaks with Allan Lind, James L. Vincent professor of Leadership at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and Belinda Dowdy, an expert in professional transition, about coping with joblessness. Small business owners Amy Wazenegger and Chris Merrill offer their perspectives on surviving and thriving in this economy. And Rain Leander, Andy Glock and Brian Settle share the lessons they learned from their layoffs.
