In her new role as director of the UNC American Indian Center, Clara Sue Kidwell will have to navigate the touchy politics of Native American identity in North Carolina. But after a long scholarly career at the University of Oklahoma and a stint in fundraising and federal bureaucracy at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, Clara Sue Kidwell is up for the challenge. She joins host Frank Stasio to discuss her goals for the new center as well as her Choctaw and Chippewa roots.
