Trigger phrases like "climate change," "stem cell research," or "nuclear weapon" may get us all riled up, but how much do we as Americans really care about science? A new book, "Unscientific America" (Perseus Books Group/2009), argues that our culture largely tunes out scientists and their findings. Sheril Kirshenbaum is the co-author of the book and a research associate at Duke University. She joins host Frank Stasio to talk about how America's "scientific illiteracy" could pose a potential threat to the country's safety and status.
