Singer-songwriter Tift Merritt broke a lot of hearts when she ran away from her beloved home in North Carolina to Paris, France. This was a few years ago after Merritt’s album “Tambourine” won just about every possible award for Americana music. She admits that she often seeks the solitude of new and strange places to recharge her songwriting battery. She eventually left Paris for New York City, but she still calls North Carolina home and her brand new album, “See You on the Moon,” was made here. She says the effort was like building a fort in her own backyard. Tift Merritt plays The North Carolina Museum of Art tomorrow night, Saturday, June 5th, as part of their grand re-opening. First, she joins host Frank Stasio in the studio to sing from her latest release.
