Meet Howard Fuller
Monday, May 04 2009
by Frank Stasio and Susan Davis
Community activist Howard Fuller's hard-won victories over Durham's white establishment made him a leader in the African-American community. In the aftermath of Martin Luther King's assassination, Durham's streets remained relatively peaceful due, in part, to Fuller's influence. Host Frank Stasio talks with Fuller about his childhood in the Deep South, his education in the Midwest, his civil rights work in Durham and his return to Milwaukee, where he became a school superintendent.
