Meet Mike Wiley

by Frank Stasio and Olympia Stone
Mike Wiley writes historical, one-man plays about key figures in African-American history. His plays have focused both on well-known historical figures like Jackie Robinson, and lesser-known individuals, like Henry “Box” Brown, who left a life of slavery by mailing himself in a box from Richmond, Virginia to Philadelphia. Most recently, he has added “Blood Done Sign My Name,” based on Tim Tyson’s award-winning memoir, to his rich repertoire. Mike Wiley joins host Frank Stasio to discuss how acting helped him fit in, and how he hopes to inspire audiences--especially students--with his plays.
