Same-Sex Marriage & North Carolina

Last week's historic ruling from California's Supreme Court legalized marriage for same-sex couples in the nation's most populous state. That court decision puts California on the path to joining Massachusetts as the second state to officially recognize gay marriages. But, the ruling could have implications for legislative decisions in other states, even North Carolina, where the Defense of Marriage Act forbids unions between people of the same sex. Host Frank Stasio considers the potential shifts in political culture with Wake Forest University Professor of political science John Dinan, Pam Spaulding, editor of the blog, pamshouseblend.com, and Steven Petrow, the past president of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Also, California couple Bob Claunch and Jack Reavley join the conversation to talk about their upcoming wedding plans after a 55-year-long relationship.
