Survey Projects 4th Quarter Job Growth for Raleigh

Bookmark and Share

The Raleigh metropolitan area boasts the country's most optimistic employers, according to a study released today. The recruiting firm Manpower conducted a survey showing that 20 percent of local businesses anticipate adding jobs over the next fiscal quarter, while only six percent plan layoffs. The positive margin is the highest in America. Manpower Southeast Vice President Michael Doyle believes the area's job diversity is the crucial ingredient.

Michael Doyle:  For me, it's the job that this area has done in diversifying its industry base. It's a mix of manufacturing, a mix of financial, obviously strong health care...the government's here as well. So it's a nice blend that I think allows the market as a whole not to rely on one particular category to show growth.

The survey projects that Charlotte and Greensboro will also have strong fourth quarters, while Asheville's hiring rate will remain flat. Manpower did not survey employers in Durham or Chapel Hill.
