Wednesday late: Beason did what?

Over at Dome, Ryan Teague Beckwith is reporting tonight that former top lobbyist Don Beason is facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly waving a gun at a couple at a Cameron Village gas station on July 6th.
Wait a minute -- what?
I don't shock easily, but okay, you got me on that one. It's just SO not in keeping with Beason's persona. Jim Black's federal sentencing was 5 days later - so was it stress? Or did someone misinterpret something?
According to Beckwith, Beason's attorney, former Rep Bob Hensley, says the lobbyist is due to answer the charge in Wake Superior Court on Sept. 20th.
Oddly enough...
Beason was back on Jones Street today, enjoying a slice of chocolate cake at his usual lunchtime.table in the cafeteria. I just about dropped my teeth when I walked through the door to find him sitting there.
Beason was charming as usual, looking surprised that we seemed surprised to see him. And no, he didn't appear to be packing heat - which, if tonight's allegations are true, may be a good thing.
