Tuesday: Women (?) for Hillary

Hillary Clinton’s campaign just sent out this release, naming Clinton’s top women supporters in North Carolina.  I’m sure no one was more surprised to see their name on the list than Dana Cope and Ashley Thrift, seeing as how they’re both men.

It's not like they're nobodies, either.  Dana Cope is the president of the State Employees’ Association of NC.  Ashley Thrift is a politically well-connected Winston-Salem attorney who once served as Sen. Ernest Hollings' chief of staff.

Perhaps no one at Clinton's HQ is conversant with the Southern penchant for unisex first names.  (I’ll grant you there probably aren’t a lot of men named Ashley in New York.)

But given that both men’s names are listed right next to their spouses’ very clearly female names, wouldn’t you think someone might’ve Googled them?

Here’s to being “in touch.”
